Streaming box setup
Kodi, Android TV boxes and Amazon Fire TV Sticks, set up properly with legal apps and add-ons, signed in to your own accounts.
From unboxing to watching
New box setup
Connect the box to your TV and Wi-Fi, run system updates and pair the remote.
Kodi for your own library
Install Kodi, add your own movies, shows and music, and set up add-ons from Kodi's official repository.
Legal streaming apps
Netflix, YouTube, Crave, Disney+, Plex and similar apps, signed in to your own accounts.
Legal third-party apps
Apps from outside the app store, such as Kodi and VLC on a Fire TV Stick, installed from their official sources.
Buffering and slow boxes
Clear storage, remove junk apps, check the Wi-Fi and update software so playback runs smoothly.
Remotes and controls
Pair remotes, set up voice search, and set up HDMI-CEC so one remote runs the TV and the box.
What I don't install
I only install apps and add-ons that are legal in Canada.
I don't load boxes with add-ons, builds or IPTV services that stream paid TV, movies or sports for free. In 2016, the Federal Court ordered sellers of boxes preloaded with that kind of software to stop. Everything I set up runs on services you pay for or that are free by law, so your box keeps working and you stay on the right side of the law.
What helps me set it up faster
You don't need all of this. Anything you can tell me saves time.
- The make and model of the box or stick
- Which streaming services you already pay for
- Your Wi-Fi name and password, ready on the day
- What's going wrong, if it's already set up
Tell me what's going on. You'll get a plan and a price.
Describe the problem or the project. I reply within one business day.
